Snowboard technology changes from season to season, so if you are still riding the same snowboard and boots you did years ago then you need to buy some new stuff…

Especially if you have old boots. The facts are that no matter what your snowboard boot, the liners are only going to live to see about 60-65 days of riding and after that, because of the constant wetting and drying, they will expand and eventually stop your riding dead. Snowboards are constantly being updated and innovated with new sidecuts, new lightweight materials, different flexes, and base patterns. Just like in the computer world, if your snowboard is more than two seasons old than it is probably outdated.

It sounds crazy but I recommend purchasing a new set of snowboard boots each season and a new snowboard every one to three seasons depending on how you ride (the more you ride the earlier you should buy, you may even break your snowboard before three seasons is up). Since boots are easily $150-$400 and snowboards $300-$600 you probably aren’t seeing that happening soon.

The good news is that I could not have picked a better time to let you know, because now that the end of the season is here and summer is upon us you can expect deals up to and possibly more than 50% off! I’m not just talking about used product or things that are from seasons ago. Brand new merchandise from last year usually goes on a huge price cut right about now. Get a new set of everything for under the cost of the snowboard alone! Boards, boots, bindings, and outerwear are all given away for huge end of the year discounts.

To get the goods to go to the top next season all you have to do is check around your local skate/snowboard shops first. If you live in an area where snowboarding isn’t the prominent focus then you can usually land the last seasons top snowboards for the cheapest prices right at home. If you don’t have a shop near your home than you can go through the Internet. There are tons of online snowboard shops and rest assured that they all participate in the end of season savings. I personally recommend DogFunk.com, which has an enormous selection of snowboard gear not to mention some huge end of season savings and the best prices on the hottest snowboard gear all year long.

so, all you fellow boarders i need help. I need a "lazy man’s" workout/ exercise regiment to get back into shape. I’m really not in bad shape, but i want to be perfect for this season. I’m shooting for thanksgiving weekend to go up to killington, so any help will be appreciated. i need stuff that’s fun to do cuz i lose interest quick. right now i’m playing a lot of futbol, football, and i’ve been breakin, so any other suggestions will be taken kindly. So please suggest some quick exercises and cheap healthy food!

PS- my gear- don’t really know. but i got a burton 2005 T6 and it’s awesome! also got dub gortex jacket, but i’m looking for some new bindings and gloves. any help for some good cheap suggestions will be appreciated.

first off, if you never snowboarded before let me tell you you scored some pretty dope gear. that out of the way.

The best way to get into shape for snowboarding is skateboarding. It will get you to understand the balance principles needed for snowboarding. B-boying is good all around fitness and gives you that style you need for tearing up the slopes. But I just want to throw in a not so fun activity just to tell you what the best one is so you can take-it-or-leave-it:plyometrics!
It is the ultimate way to get ready for the slopes but people like you might find it boring…

The main brand that you are going to get in AUS is Burton- and there is lots of burton stuff- but thats about it. Some spider clothing and boots too, but thats about it

I’m looking to buy a new snowboard in Sydney, Australia and just wondering when is the best time to get the best price.

I just bought all my gear…I live near Mt Buller in Victoria and there have been huge sales to get reid of all of last years stock they didn’t sell. You can get cheap stuff at the start of the season, the end of the season or you can wait til they have summer clearances. Usually these sales are about clearing out last season’s gear. If your a person who gets the latest stuff, you will probably have to pay full whack cos they ain’t gonna put it on sale just yet.

thts pretty much it,, i just want some really good ideas for new snowboard gear. oh and can any1 find some specialblend gear for cheap besides backcounty.com, the house is a lil expensive, i mean i want to get it for a real steal

Ok, I’ve been wanting to snowboard for a while now and I’ll be a beginner. Can someone tell me what it’s like to snowboard and to get cheap gear like pants and jackets (I’m going to rent a board, boots and bindings)? And can someone also help me find the right size snowboard for me? I’m a 17 year old girl, about 202 lbs and 5’7” thank you!!!
Oh yeah, I’ll be looking for goggles, gloves and hats too!

Your question is practically impossible.
1. the feeling of snowboarding differs by the day. Comparing it to music sometimes its like a heavy metal scream and others are like Beethoven. The way i say it is "Its hard to learn but fun to do"
2.ahh the infamous "cheap" gear. Shop around for QUALITY gear.
3.If your renting you dont need to know the board size. They are going to give you a 152 or a 155. somewhere in there.

If you don’t mind used, you can get stuff on geartrade.com . Also as someone said TJ maxx randomly has new stuff that is from a couple seasons ago that never sold. Ebay is also an option but usually hard to find anything cheap on there, for me at least

This season i would like to start snowboarding. I need help figuring out how to pick out the right snowboard size, boot size, and bindings. Here’s me info. in case it helps:
height – 5′ 5"
weight – 145
shoe size – 10.5 – 11

Awesome decision to start snowboarding. First off, one thing you’ll learn is that a lot of people will tell you to get a board that comes somewhere between your chin and nose. Or something of the sort. Truth is, even more people are going to tell you that your board will depend on your weight alone and rarely your height. This is who you need to listen to lol. Boards are designed based on weight, not really height. For you, a board ranging from a 152cm to a 154cm, possibly right in between will work for you. Go to your local snowboarding destination and rent a board for a day and see which one you feel most comfortable in because it’s also about personal preference, an awesome thing about this sport. Nothing is set in stone for you, whatever feels good to you is what you use, not what everyone’s going to tell you. And for your boot, I’d go to a store for those so you can try them on and know for sure which ones you want and what size fits perfectly. Find an associate there to help you out because a lot of your snowboard boots today have heat-molded liners. Which means the boot might feel snug at first but after you break it in it will really open up, at least a half size, sometimes slightly more. You can either break it in the old fashion way by shredding the mountains everyday, all day OR you can have the store selling the boots to you put them on a special heat machine which will form the linear to your likings, making them customized to the curves of your feet. The ultimate comfort. Bindings are simple though. You’ll most likely need a binding in size large. Large bindings are classified as boot sizes of 10 and up. Just as a suggestion, for your boots and bindings, I’d go Burton. They’re amazing. The bindings made by Burton are designed differently than other bindings. The highbacks (the support lip that’s against the entire back of your calf) are anchored more forward than other bindings, not only strengthening the highback overall, but also enabling it to be more flexable and responsive than others. It’s an awesome and innovative idea that put Burton a step ahead in bindings. But also, Burton has has made it so that their boots work best with their bindings and vis versa. So if I were you, I’d get Burton bindings and boots together. Go to www.Burton.com to check out their entire line. Some cheap sites for snowboard gear are the-house.com, actionvillage.com, porterstahoe.com, shredshop.com, and there are loads more. But your best bet is to visit your local snowboard shops. Even a lot of ski shops have junk for boarding if you don’t have snowboard shops near by. Nice thing about going to these places for your gear is that you can bargain with them on prices and most places sell their stuff from last year at 50% or more off. It’s awesome, the kind of deals you can get away with from these places on junk that’s just from last year. You’d be surprised on what kind of money you can save. Even if you want this years stuff, you can usually get 10% off the stuff just by asking or negotiating. Use it to your benefit dude, you’ll get outta there without tearin a hole in your wallet for it all. Good luck this year man, have fun.
