So you rented a board a few times, got the hang of it and absolutely loved it. What now? Your first thought is probably that you don’t want to waste the $20-$50 on renting another day, but at the same time lift tickets aren’t cheap either! You’re at the point where it only makes sense to get on your own equipment for the sake of your riding and your pocket.

Don’t fret, you have plenty of options. If you do the right searching you can put together a beginner snowboard package for anywhere from $200 – $500. So what are the differences a cheap snowboard and a quality beginner board?. Well to start, most inexpensive off brand snowboards are made with a construction called capped construction. Capped construction means that the topsheet of the snowboard is pinched over the edge of the board to the metal edge. Most quality boards will be made with a construction called sandwich or sidewall construction, where the sidewalls of the snowboard are sandwiched between the topsheet of the board and the base. Boards built like this transfer energy to the boards edges much more effectively and efficiently. As a beginner, what does that mean for you? It means that in a time where your legs are week, and you’re not sure of your movements you’ll be working alot harder to get the board to do what you need it to do.

In terms of the core of the snowboard, some cheap boards are even still foam rather than wood core. Foam is light and makes the board soft, but it breaks down very easily. These boards loose their response and energy easily and again make it harder for the rider to get the board to do what they want it to do. Quality snowboards are made with wood cores and many additional materials to dampen vibration and increase the response of the board. An entry level beginner board can have a very simple wood core construction, but the better brands will make this in a way that the board maintains its flex and helps the rider progress.

When it comes down to it, most of the well known brands will make a basic entry level beginner snowboard for about $300-$330. However, if you look hard enough you may be able to find previous year models for $150-$200. You may be asking yourself, is it worth spending $200 on the board alone when you can pick up someones busted up used set that includes everything for the same price? Absolutely, you’ve done the rental thing and now you need your own equipment. Riding a board that can effectively and efficiently transfer your energy and maintain the appropriate flex can make all the difference. A quality board can help you progress and enjoy the sport even more. Again, <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://www.sale.snowboards.net” target=”_new”>”cheap snowboards”</a> can still be quality snowboards if you shop around and stick with a well known brand. Im 35 year old , 6 feet tall and wheigh 200 pounds and I also looking for a little bit of confort.. Ive been snowboarding for 8 years.

At the moment i have Burton Moto boots and Burton freestyle old bindings. Both of these are like 5 year old equipment. I have the chance to buy some new Flow m9 bindings and Forum Recon snowboard boots. I have a wide Ride snowboard and usually like doing some freestyle but love to ski all the mountain …

By the way i can buy these two things very cheap.

Should i buy them or will i have two much flexibility and will this bother with my all mountain skiing.

Sorry about my english..

Ok, so i have been snowboarding for a few years now. An now that i am getting a bit better and going a bit more i am looking to upgrade some of my beginner equipment. I figured I’d start with the boots as they are the gateway in witch connects the rider to his board. Plus i happen to like my very cheap and effective board a (Jobe).

Now I have a nice pair of older 32 snowboard boots that i like. But i hate the time and pain it causes to get in them and out of them. Then while on the slopes hoping and preying i have tied them tight enough. Also while i hope i have tightened them down enough to be comfortable and tight enough to shred all day. An i hate having to do that whole fight while wasting my time on the mountain should something go a rye during the day.

So i have been looking into the BOA style boots. Seems it’s the answer to most of all that i want. Easy in and out and being able to tighten and untighten when i need and last all day comfortably.

I have looked into the BOA some say its great other say its garbage, i truly believe if this system works it will improve my boarding a ton.

My question is, tho as i do my research on these boots. I see an array of prices some in the 80$ range and others in the 300$. What makes these higher priced boots better and what makes the lower end not what i want? I don’t see much difference in these different priced boots? I am looking to spend some where in 150$ range and of course the cheaper the better, but i don’t want to go to low and get a bad boot as that would completely defy what i am trying to do. Also what should i look for in these boots features and so on. Brands don’t mean to much to me just the best fit and the best price is what i am after. Thank you!

Im in college and need a new car so i need something cheap reliable good on gas and something that will hold all my sports equipment i like snowboarding and need something big enough to hold mine and my friends gear at times and also something kind of small i love the scions and mini coopers
i like the scion and mini cooper dont know if i can afford it and wanted other peoples opinions on those two cars or something better

I know nothing about Canada but I would like to now the coolest and cheapest place to go snowboarding. Somewhere really fun. About how much would it be to rent all the equipment and stay at a cottage or a lodge or something like a little house. Also how many hours would it be from chicago and what would be the best form of transportation other than airplane. Thank you for your help.

Hey guys,

I am planning to check out some of our local shops tomorrow with the hopes of picking up some snowboard gear (boots, board, bindings) since they are beginning to have closeout sales.

I have only been snowboarding twice, and have been renting equipment. However, I don’t want a really cheap beginner board, I want something that is good and will last.

Can someone tell me the best models/brands for:
-Snowboards
-Boots
-Bindings

I would like to keep my budget under or around $400. I realize I won’t get an AWESOME snowboard for this, but it should get me something good.

Thanks
Oh, and I would like to get an All-Mountain board.

Can anyone tell me where I can find cheap deals to go snowboarding/skiing within March 12-20? I found this trip where it would be $400 (hotel)+$120 equipment rental+$150 roundtrip transportation=$700ish. For 5 days/4nights condo.
4 days lift and gondola tickets.
It’s in Tremblant (don’t know how good the slopes are but seems good).

Anyways is there any other way, cheaper options? Planning to go with 4-ish people so maybe is there a room discount somewhere because with ours it’s around $100 per day including lift tickets (not sure how much lift tickets usually are). According to tremblant.ca tickets are actually $70 per day so I guess we are only paying $30 for the rooms. Anyways seems like an okay deal but any other suggestions would be great!

I’m a 13 year old snowboarder who doesn’t have much money so I bought the cheapest equipment that’s not exactly my size, but within a range. I’m going snowboarding tomorrow and my helmet is really loose, so I told everybody to not be freaked out if I never see them again and that it’ll probably just be me dead due to a loose helmet falling off and choking me or rattling so much that it gave me more brain damage than a regular fall would cause. So should I at least start tonight on a will?

Hey okay so I weigh about 95lbs, im about 5,4″, Im relatively new to snowboarding, I have size 7 feet, and I want a all mountain freestyle board, I am thinking of the Burton
Custom in 144cm

http://www.burton.com/Gear/Default.aspx#/gear/productdetail/mens/boards/10405/206752000144/

(I know it’s a big but I want something to grow into.) Any other board suggestions?
As for bindings I was thinking of Burton Custom Snowboard Bindings in Black

http://www.boardridersguide.com/product/Department_Snowboarding_Bindings/841511428.htm

And for the boots, Burton Ruler Snowboard Boots in size 7

http://www.boardridersguide.com/product/Department_Snowboarding_Boots/1277130.htm

If anyone knows of better equipment cheaper, more reliable etc, please tell me all recommendations towards boots bindings and board will help alot.

Thanks in advance.
