Im working in Whistler this season and ive never snowboarded before. So im buying a few items on ebay, and in the shops and possibly when I get into Vancouver. Just wondering if people can recommend any decent makes of goggles, helmets, jackets, snowboarding pants etc That dont break the bank but then again aint cheap and tacky.

Seen a few things in TKmax to get me started till I get out there, where i will have more choice and a better idea etc

Cheers

Ive been boarding for about 6 years now and I had the same question as you lol. I found that SPY* optics had good googles for my price range and for jackets and pants I would suggest Columbia* there stuff is good quality and very durable and there prices arent bad either. Hope I was some sort of help if you have any other questions feel free to ask :)

cheers

Do i need to take moonboots for when im not snowboarding? Should i take a small back pack for when im on the slopes? Where is the best place in the UK to buy good cheap snowboarding gear? Can you wear snowboarding goggles over glasses? Sorry there are so many questions. Please answer soon – i’m going in February
and what sort of hat is the best to take?

ur worrying waaay too much about it, but there are deff some things you cannot forget, or the experience wont b fun…

Waterproof snowboarding pants
Waterproof jacket
two long pairs of socks (two, to stop from getting blisters, and make sure they are long, so that the boot itself dont cut up ur leg)
you only need googles if its going to be snowing hard or if your gna b going pretty fast
you deff need gloves!!!, very important
and i take it since ur starting, it might be a good idea to buy wrist guards to put under ur gloves, the most frequent injury in begining snowboarding is wrist injuries, a 5-10 dollar wrist guard should protect you very well from that, cuz you willll be falling on ur hands ALOT…

other then that, just dont give up… and if you could, id put contacts in, but if not, u probably wont even need to wear googles so the glasses will suffice…

i dont live in UK so i dont kno where to get that stuff there

This is going to be my first year buying a snowboard, boots, and bindings. Any suggesting for sites and stores with good deals?

try these:

All of last season’s stuff is deeply discounted right now.

I know that there are companies like Columbia that make cheaper versions of North Face stuff. But i’m looking for durable, high quality stuff from innovative companies that are more into well designed products than fashionable ones. To be specific, I need a waterproof jacket for climbing and snowboarding in Alaska

do columbia or mountain sport (?). They have good stuff that are not necessarily fashionable.

i need a new pair of snowboarding pants that are good and cheap. i am mens size 34

If you want quality it’s best to stay above 10k waterproofing and breathabillity, I usually don’t ride anything below 15k.

These sites usually have some good deals on gear.

@unforgiven yeah I do hope that was a joke cause you couldn’t give worse information.

i am going snowboarding in the winter in utah. my parents are paying for the airfare and the hotel. how much would it be for clothing? like for pants jacket etc. i will be there for a week so would it be cheaper to rent a board there or buy that gear as well? also what about lift tickets and such?
i will be snowboarding at Snowbird

these prices dont have to be spot on, just a rough estimate.

Ha don’t listen to chucky up there if your only gunna be snowboarding for a week and not all the time you dont need the best product out there just buy yourself gloves- 15-30 bucks Pants- 40-100 Jacket- 80-120 and yea it would be deff cheaper to rent. As for lift your looking at 100 bucks a day but you may be able to find a week pass for alot cheaper its not going to be cheap but deff worth the money if i were you id go to a local mtn and practice before you went to a place like snowbird.

i just recently bought a new board and boots then ran out of money. winter is approaching and i was wondering if anyone new a good website where i can get cheap bindings? if you do just post link, thank you.
